Times table practice
To help your children improve their times table knowledge below are some games they can play online.
Welcome to Robin Class -Year 4
Mrs Phelan, Mrs Padley and Ms Crammon
We have made it to half term!!!! Hooray!
Year 4 had a very productive start to the year. We read 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes and wrote using a range of figurative language.
Our science topic was electricity and the children enjoyed designing and making burglar alarms.
In history we learned about the Romans and how they invaded and settled in Britain. We also had great fun in P.E. starting to play netball!
Here are a few things you need to know:
Spellings will be tested every Tuesday - a half termly spelling sheet has been sent home. See attachment.
Times tables tests take place every Tuesday and Friday. Both tests will be marked and sent home with your child so that you can see how well they have performed and which tables need to be practised. See attachment.
Your child has also been given a 'reading record book' to take home and back to school daily. Please try to listen to your child read aloud at least four times per week. Ask questions about the text to develop comprehension skills.
We will set a comprehension exercise on 'Teams' every Thursday to be completed by the following Thursday.
We will also set a task every Thursday on mymaths.
Please encourage your children to spend time on TTRockstars, mymaths and to learn their spellings.
This term we will be studying fractions, 'The Boy in the Dress' by David Walliams and Christianity focusing on Christmas.
In P.E. the children will be playing badminton and hockey. Please ensure that your child has suitable footwear, i.e. trainers for use in school. Wellington boots are also a good idea!
Thank you all for the support you have given and please don't hesitate to raise any worries or ask questions via the school email.
