Computing at Ascot Heath
Our Computing subject leader is Miss Seaton
We are in an ever evolving digital world, with technology fundamental in a range of careers and industries. At Ascot Heath Primary School we believe that by teaching our children to think computationally we are arming them with the knowledge and skills to perform the jobs which have not been invented yet. Technology is key to the school’s local area, Berkshire is home to nearly 8,000 tech companies. By providing our children with knowledge and skills in computing it provides them with the opportunity to capitalise on these world class local market conditions and challenge the gender gap. The school values of respect, hope and courage are woven into our computing curriculum. The opportunity to solve big problems in computing provides awe and wonder moments that captures our learners. From fixing a bug in their code to a robot reaching a goal, the resilience required and the feelings of success help to shape our children’s characters. Our computing curriculum has been structured to facilitate a progression of knowledge and skills to ensure that children can build on their understanding. As each new concept and skill is taught there are opportunities to revisit and build on prior knowledge. Computing is taught through the online platform Purple Mash.
