Ascot Heath Primary School

“Preparing our children for all of their tomorrows”

Meet the Governors

The governing body of Ascot Heath Primary School exists to ensure high standards of achievement for all children and young people in the school by:

    • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
    • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff
    • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
    • Ensuring the voices of stakeholders are heard

To this end the governing body is made up of three committees, The Full Governing Body (FGB) on which all governors sit, the Finance and Staffing (F&S) committee and the Teaching, Learning and Community (TLC) committee.

To fulfil our requirements as governors we meet regularly as committees as well as visiting the school often to see all that is going on. For more information about what we do please see the document 'What the Governors do at Ascot Heath Primary School'

Hello, my name is Steph and I’m delighted to be a Governor for Ascot Heath Primary. I’ve been part of the school community for the last 16 years and until recently worked at the school as the Family Support Advisor. Currently, I work as the Safeguarding Coordinator for a local independent school. I have two boys, one of whom attends AHP in Reception. I’m passionate about the school and believe in promoting the best possible outcomes for all children.

Hi I’m John and I joined as a Parent Governor in Nov 21. My daughter attends the school and I live in Ascot. I have worked for a large IT organisation for 25 years in a number of European and UK roles. My job at the moment is unique in that I work in digital but lead qualification programmes for early professionals. Some of these include governance and are audited by Ofsted.

As Parent Governor I am representing all parents of children at the school. I want to ensure the school is meeting expectations not only in education but also in behaviour which is where I see the school values playing a key part.

Hello, I'm Rachel, I joined Ascot Heath in September 2019 as the Infant and Junior schools amalgamated to become one primary school.    Prior to joining Ascot Heath I was Head Teacher of a primary school in Surrey for 7 years, where the school was also expanding to become a primary school.  I am committed to primary school provision and the many benefits it provides to children.  This is why I was so excited to join Ascot Heath to be part of a similar journey. It is a privilege to work with such committed staff, children and parents.

Hello, I’m Laura and I am Deputy Headteacher and Inclusion Lead at Ascot Heath Primary School. Prior to this role I worked at Ascot Heath Infant School for 7 years as a Class teacher, Deputy Headteacher and Interim Headteacher.  I am passionate about providing children the best start in their education and I am incredible lucky to work this alongside the wonderful team we have at Ascot Heath Primary School.

Diversity Statement:

As a school we recognise that a diversity of thought, voices and perspectives is essential to good governance and the effective running of any organisation. We are starting to collect diversity information from our governors and can use this to:

  • target recruitment to address gaps in experience and diversity
  • develop and adapt board practices to ensure full participation
  • prioritise training and awareness-raising in identified areas
  • address potential ‘blind spots’ through seeking wider advice and perspectives on current and upcoming opportunities, challenges and risks

We are unable to publish the diversity data as it would mean that individual members of our governing body are identifiable.
